Katie Drabot Adds Individual 200 Free for Doha After Impressive World Cup Performance

  1 Braden Keith | October 29th, 2014

High school junior Katie Drabot of Ozaukee Aquatics and Cedarburg High School has picked up a swim in the individual 200 free for the 2014 Short Course World Championships that will be held in Doha, Qatar from December 3rd-7th. The news was Tweeted by the official Twitter account of her club team, who say that they received a letter informing them of the change this morning.

Drabot was already on the roster as part of the American lineup in the women’s 800 free relay, but on day 1 of the 2014 Tokyo World Cup on Tuesday, she swam the ninth-fastest 200 short course meter freestyle in U.S. history to place 3rd in 1:54.45.

USA Swimming has not yet responded to a request for verification of who dropped from the meet. The two swimmers entered to represent the United States individually in the 200 free were Katie Hoff and Shannon Vreeland, and Vreeland has verified that she’s still entered.

I understand the reasoning, but this is a very tortured way of saying “Katie Hoff has unofficially dropped out of SCM Worlds”:

USA Swimming has not yet responded to a request for verification of who dropped from the meet. The two swimmers entered to represent the United States individually in the 200 free were Katie Hoff and Shannon Vreeland, and Vreeland has verified that she’s still entered.
