Bayside Aquatics is seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and athlete-centered individuals to join our coaching staff for the 2026-2027 season.
Located in Bowie, Maryland, Bayside Aquatics is a coach-owned USA Swimming club of approximately 300 athletes, ranging from 6-year-old beginners to Junior National qualifiers. As a top-10 team in Maryland Swimming, we are committed to developing well-rounded athletes through excellent coaching, positive relationships, and a supportive team culture.
We are looking for coaches who are passionate about teaching, mentoring, and inspiring swimmers of all ages and abilities. Successful candidates will enjoy working collaboratively with an experienced coaching staff while helping continue the growth and success of our program.
Position Responsibilities
Assistant coaches will:
- Lead or assist assigned practice groups while implementing workouts aligned with the vision and philosophy of the Head Coach.
- Create a safe, positive, challenging, and supportive training environment where athletes can thrive.
- Attend scheduled weekday practices and, on average, coach one weekend swim meet each month.
- Collaborate with fellow coaches to provide consistent instruction, technical feedback, and athlete development.
- Depending on experience and role, assist with meet entries, athlete evaluations, and communication with families.
Qualifications
Candidates should:
- Have a passion for coaching and developing young athletes.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a collaborative coaching staff.
- Hold current USA Swimming certifications or obtain them shortly after hiring, including:
- Safety Training for Swim Coaches
- Athlete Protection Training
- Any additional USA Swimming-required certifications
- Successfully pass a USA Swimming background check.
