Just days after taking down Jack Alexy‘s 13-14 National Age Group Record in the 50 backstroke, Rochester Swim Club’s Elliot Leasure was back into his record-breaking ways, surging to another NAG record, this time in the 100 back, where he became the first 13-14 swimmer in NAG history to crack the 56-second barrier in the event in 55.86.

The swim was done in his home state of Minnesota at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis at the AQJT Summer Spectacular.

In the prelims of the event, Leasure, 14,  had dropped three tenths of a second from his former best time in the 100, back to 56.70. Today, that time is now nearly a second slower than his new NAG record.

Thomas McMillan previously held the 13-14 NAG record in 56.36 in 2024, which he swam in the same pool as Leasure. Leasure’s earlier swim of 56.70 made him only the 6th person ever to break 57 seconds in the 13-14 NAG, where now he becomes the first ever to break the 56-second mark.

Splits Comparison:

Leasure (2026) McMillan (2024)
50 27.12 27.29
100 28.74 29.07
55.86 56.36

All-Time Boys 13-14 NAG 100 Backstroke Performers:

  1. Elliot Leasure – 55.86 (2026)
  2. Thomas McMillan – 56.36 (2024)
  3. Josh Zuchowski – 56.83 (2019)
  4. Michael Andrew – 56.83 (2014)
  5. Destin Lasco – 56.84 (2016)

Leasure shaved seven tenths of a second off the former 13-14 50 back NAG record yesterday, touching in 26.00, which marked more than a full second improvement over his best time of 27.03 from May.

To complete the 13-14 NAG sweep of the backstroke events, he will need to find some way to drop about two seconds to contest the record time from Keaton Jones in 2:00.28 from 2019.

He currently ranks 4th all-time in the boys 13-14 NAG for the 200 backstroke in 2:02.66.

What a Leasure-ly swim!
(I’m going to use this every single time there’s an article about him. Just sayin)
