Winter Juniors Qualifier Lincoln Hofmann Commits To Pitt For 2026-27

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Winter Juniors qualifier Lincoln Hofmann has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2026. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:

I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Pittsburgh to continue my athletic and academic career! I would like to thank my family and coaches for supporting me along the way as well as my teammates for always making swimming fun. A special thanks to the coaching staff at Pitt for giving me this amazing opportunity. I am truly grateful and can’t wait to be a Panther! H2P!

A senior at Louisville Collegiate High School in Kentucky, Hofmann has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He also swims year-round with Cardinal Aquatics, where he primarily specializes in sprint freestyle and backstroke.

Over the past 12 months, Hofmann has obliterated all of his lifetime bests in his primary events. Last March, he owned times of 20.68/45.11 in the 50/100 free and 48.67/1:46.11 in the 100 back, and has since lowered them to 20.04/43.67 and 47.98/1:43.67.

A two-time Winter Juniors qualifier, Hofmann placed 11th in the 100 back (48.10), 28th in the 200 back (1:47.37), 28th in the 50 free (20.41), and 67th in the 100 free (45.63) in December, his first time cracking the top-40 and making a final at the meet. His times in the 50 free and 100 back were then-PBs, while his 200 back represented a season best.

At the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) State Championships two months later, Hofmann picked up a pair of state titles in the 100 free and 100 back, in addition to helping Louisville Collegiate to 22nd in the 200 free relay (20.58 split). He clocked his current personal best in the 100 free and just missed his season best in the 100 back, swimming 48.34. A mainstay at the meet, he was the runner-up in the 100 free and bronze 100 back as a junior, after touching fourth in the 50 free and eighth in the 100 back as a sophomore and 26th in the 50 free as a freshman.

Hofmann wrapped up his short course season at the SwimStrong Dryland National Championships last week, where he walked away with individual titles in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 back, setting his current bests in the 50 free and 200 back and his second-fastest ever time in the 100 free (43.97). He also finished second in the 100 back (48.35) and fourth in the 200 IM (1:54.57). Beyond his individual events, he helped Cardinal Aquatics win three relays. He led off the 400 medley relay with his first-ever sub-48 and contributed splits of 22.64 in the 200 medley relay and 44.83 in the 400 free relay.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 Freestyle: 20.04
  • 100 Freestyle: 43.67
  • 100 Backstroke: 47.98
  • 200 Backstroke: 1:43.67

A Division I program, Pitt competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference, with the men’s team taking 11th out of 15 teams at the conference championships few weeks ago. To score at the meet, it took times of 19.46/42.67 in the 50/100 free and 46.71/1:42.39 in the 100/200 back, putting Hofmann outside the cutoff in each of his top events.

On the team’s projected 2026-27 depth chart, when factoring in graduations and other recruits, Hofmann is slated to rank first in the 200 back, third in the 50 free and 100 back, and fifth in the 100 free, setting him up to be one of the team’s top contributors.

Joining Hofmann in the pool this fall will be Matthew Karasek, who owns similar bests of 20.3/44.4 in the sprint free and 48.1/1:47.2in back; Austin Sorg, who has PBs of 20.2 and 45.0 in the sprint free and also swims fly; and Cinco Perez, a distance free/IM specialist.
