Day 4 Prelims Heat Sheet

The final day of the Men’s 2026 NCAA Championships sees one big scratch and our first of the meet from within the top 16 seeds, as USC’s Krzysztof Chmielewski is out of the 200 fly. He was the #11 seed in 1:39.81, which he swam at midseason, but was just 1:43.19 at Big Tens and added seven seconds in the 500 free prelims yesterday morning to finish 39th.

Chmielewski is the reigning world long course silver medalist in the 200 fly courtesy of the 1:52.64 he swam in Singapore last summer, a mark which also stands as the Polish national record. He took silver in the 200 fly at the European short course championships in December in a time of 1:50.24, just ahead of his brother Michal, who is entered today in the 200 fly as the #14 seed.

Adriano Arioti of Harvard and Alexey Glivinskiy of Texas both scratched the 200 IM in favor of other events today, with Arioti the #26 seed in the 200 back and Glivinskiy the #27 seed in the 100 free. The majority of the other scratches today are from swimmers also choosing between two events on the final day.

Evan VanBrocklin scratches the 200 fly for the 200 IM, the event in which he is the Big 12 champion, with Vili Sivec scratching the 100 free for the 200 fly and Jan Zubik scratching the 200 back for the 200 fly. Eitan Ben-Shitrit scratches the 200 back, where he is the #39 seed, for the 200 IM here he is the #17 seed, while Marcus Reyes-Gentry of Notre Dame (200 back) and Daniel Krichevsky of Auburn (100 free) have likely scratched to go all in on their teams’ respective 400 free relays, which are both swimming in the morning session.
