After an electric start to the meet last night, in which three relays (Yale’s 200 medley and 800 free relays and Princeton’s 800 free relay) hit automatic qualifying times for 2026 NCAA Division I Championships, we begin the individual events. Thursday’s prelims session will feature heats of the 500 free, 200 IM, and 50 free. 1-meter diving will follow in the early afternoon.
Harvard freshman William Mulgrew leads the psych sheet in the 500, coming in with the top seed time of 4:14.25. Seeded just .26 back is defending champion and Ivy record-holder, senior Noah Millard of Yale. Princeton has a couple of hopefuls near the top, as well, including junior Arthur Balva (4:16.99) and Santiago Gutierrez (4:17.29).
Princeton senior Mitchell Schott showed us his form last night, splitting 1:30.30 on the Tigers’ 4×200 free relay, and he comes in ranked at the top of the field in the 200 IM with 1:43.57. Brown sophomore Marton Nagy (1:44.32) was runner-up to Schott a year ago, and he is the #2 seed this morning. Dartmouth sophomore Jacob Turner (1:44.95), 11th a year ago, comes in with the 3rd time.
Yale sophomore Nicholas Finch will attempt to defend his 50 free title. He comes in with the only sub-19 seed time (18.96). Harvard junior Sonny Wang (19.32) and freshman Maro Miknic (19.33) both have a shot at the title, as do Princeton sophomore Patrick Dinu (19.39) and Columbia senior Zion James (19.49). Wang was runner-up a year ago, while Dinu was 3rd. Zion tied for 4th with Yale’s Deny Nankov.
