2017 British Cships: Hannah Miley Talks 400 IM Talent & Tactics -Video

2017 BRITISH SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hannah Miley claimed her 3rd consecutive British national title in the women’s 400m IM, as the Olympic finalist touched first in a super quick time of 4:34.12 to be positioned as the 2nd fastest swimmer in the world this season.

Post-race in Sheffield, Miley talked about how the upper echelons of this event have been rather lonely in British swimmer with just her and runner-up Aimee Willmott representing the usual suspects on the podium domestically over the past few years. That appears to be changing, however, as Miley describes how she’s excited to see younger competition coming up through the ranks and was impressed by the number of sub-4:40 swims produced in tonight’s final. Miley also talked race tactics and what she’ll need to change to keep up with the likes of wicked-fast Japanese athlete Yui Ohhashi.

With Miley’s mark falling just shy of the automatic qualifying time, Miley will need to wait and see if she gets discretionarily selected for the World Championships roster.
