2016 NCAA Division III Championships – Day 2 Standings and Outlook

Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Women’s Team Scores – Day Two

The women’s meet heated up on Day Two as Kenyon earned 20 unanswered points in diving to make a dent in Emory’s projected lead. Emory got half of it back again with strong performances in finals, but the team race is going to be close. Williams suffered a blow with their 100 fly DQ but they had a significant cushion from having placed more swimmers in finals than anticipated. That said, the battle for third place with Denison will be even more intense going forward.

Men’s Team Scores – Day Two

Kenyon remains in the lead on the men’s side, but Denison’s three top-eight divers will make the Big Red very hard to beat. We will know more tomorrow after the 1-meter diving event, but it is safe to assume Denison will take over the lead on Day Three. Beyond the top two teams there is very little mystery. Emory is uncontested at third, as is Johns Hopkins at fourth. Williams and MIT are competing for fifth, TCNJ and Wash U for seventh, and CMS, NYU, Chicago and Rowan for ninth.

Surprising that the NCAA couldn’t find a better starter for this meet. Leaving the swimmers in the blocks for way too long. Reminded me of a parent trainee starter at a summer league meet!
