16-Year-Old Rylee Erisman Recalls Lessons Learned at US Trials, World Jr Championships

This summer, 16-year-old Rylee Erisman became the fastest 18-and-under in US history in the 100m free, swimming a 52.79 to earn gold at the 2025 World Junior Championships. That was just 1 of 8 medals in Romania for Erisman, who walked away with 5 gold and 3 silver and helped USA top the medal table.

In this episode of the SwimSwam Podcast, Erisman discusses her experience at the US Trials in Indianapolis, World Junior Champs, her Florida state high school season, and the college recruiting process that she’s in right now.

In the SwimSwam Podcast dive deeper into the sport you love with insider conversations about swimming. Hosted by Coleman Hodges and Gold Medal Mel Stewart, SwimSwam welcomes both the biggest names in swimming that you already know, and rising stars that you need to get to know, as we break down the past, present, and future of aquatic sports.

Really interesting. I was really surprised when she said she trained with mid D and even 4IM groups- and not so frequently w sprint groups.yet she’s this amazing sprinter! Future seems very bright for her!

Sounds like she responds better for sprint/mid d events with changing up training and not just being with 1 set group. Hope she finds a school that would let her do the same in college.
