Two-time Ohio high school state finalist Lily Schneider has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville beginning in the fall of 2026. She wrote on social media:

An Ohio native, Schneider is currently a senior at Jonathan Alder High School, where she has been a member of the team’s varsity swimming and diving team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with Buckeye Swim Club and specializes primarily in breaststroke, IM, and middle-distance freestyle.
She currently holds best times of 1:02.83/2:19.63 in the breaststrokes, 54.96/1:56.40/5:12.84 in freestyle, and 2:10.21 in the 200 IM. Her 1:02.83 100 breast qualified her for the Winter Junior Championships, though she did not compete.
Schneider has qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division 2 State Championships all four years. As a freshman and sophomore, she placed ninth in the 100 breast, and she finished 21st in the 200 free as a sophomore. Last year, she broke through with a pair of ‘A’ finals, touching sixth in the 100 breast and eighth in the 200 free.
Since last year’s state meet, she has dropped 3.93 seconds in the 100 breast, 9.83 seconds in the 200 breast, 5.91 seconds in the 200 IM, and 5.26 seconds in the 500 free, while her 54.96/1:56.40 100/200 free PBs remain from early 2025. Her newly minted best time in the 100 breast would have won bronze last year, and with graduations and another drop, she could contend for the 2026 state title.

A Division I Mid-Major program, Southern Indiana competes in the Summit League against fellow midwestern schools like Denver and South Dakota. The Screaming Eagles are a relatively young team, with their inaugural season having been during the 2022-2023 academic year. The women’s team placed sixth out of seven teams at the 2025 Summit League Championships, their highest finish to date.
Based on the results from last season’s Summit League Championships, Schneider would have placed third in the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 breast, setting her up to score big points right from the start. She’s not currently in scoring range in a third event, but she’s not far off the 2:08.87 and 5:08.71 needed to make the ‘B’ finals of the 200 IM and 500 free.
On the team itself, she would have been Southern Indiana’s fastest competitor in both breaststrokes last season, leading the 100 breast by over a second and the 200 breast by 3.5 seconds. She also would have ranked third in the 200 IM, fifth in the 500 free, and sixth in the 100 free. This puts her in position to become one of the Screaming Eagles’ top contributors not just at the conference championships, but also in dual meets and on relays.
Currently set to join Schneider in Evansville next fall are Lili Garland, Eliza Killough, Riley Stephens, Zoe Haeuser and Reagan Hix, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
