#10 Recruit Bethany Galat Commits to the Aggies

Bethany Galat, our number 10 ranked recruit has given her verbal commitment to the Aggies of Texas A&M.  She swims for the South Bend Swim Club out of South Bend, Indiana.  Galat is considered to be one of the best Breatstrokers to come out of this class along with Heidi Poppe who committed to Stanford.

She will look to fill some holes that will be created by a strong Senior class that will be graduating for the Aggies come May.  The list of seniors includes NCAA Champion and American Record Holder Breeja Larson and Cammile Adams.  This is the first time in a number of years that Texas A&M will be hit hard by a large graduating class that includes 8 ladies.

Galat’s best times will look to add immediately to the depth of the Aggie Ladies, especially in the Breaststroke. Her best 100 and 200 times are 1:00.29 and 2:14.0. Her 100 would have put her finishing just outside of the top-8 at last years SEC Championships and her 200 would have but her between the B and C Finals.  With a year of collegiate swimming under her belt helping to increase her endurance and speed, she can make major impacts at conference and probably even the National level. A couple other top times from Galat: 1:59.0 (200 IM), 1:48.6 (200 Free), 55.4 (100 Fly).

Galat on Why she chose Texas A&M:

“The more I learned about what Texas A&M had to offer, the more I grew to realize it was the best fit for me.  I am incredibly excited to represent a team that has been so successful in the past years.  When I went to visit, it was so clear to me that everyone was a family and what impressed me the most was it wasn’t only the team that seemed like a family to me but the rest of the support staff and the school as a whole.  I could see myself growing in every way being an Aggie and I am beyond excited to be on a team with those girls and being able to be coached by Steve (Bultman) and Tanica (Jamison) will be an incredible experience for me! Gig ‘Em!!”
