Carolina Matamoros of Naperville, Illinois has made a verbal commitment to swim for University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee starting next fall. Matamoros is a senior at Naperville Central High School and she swims for Academy Bullets Swim Club.

The Panthers were runners-up to Oakland at the 2015 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships, and could have used Matamoros’s speed in the 400 IM and 200 back to counter some of the Golden Grizzlies’ punch. Matamoros, whose times are shown below, would have been the highest-scoring Panther in the 400 IM “A” final; she would have placed in the “B” final of the 200 back as well.

  SCY LCM
400 IM 4:27.62 5:05.79
200 IM 2:10.47 2:29.92
200 back 2:07.05 2:26.57
100 back 1:00.08 1:09.97

In addition to IM and backstroke, Matamoros could be called upon for fly, free or breast as she has quite a bit of depth to her event offering. But she is within 1.5 seconds of the Wisconsin-Milwaukee school record in the 400 IM already, and this is the most logical place for her to have the most impact.
