Boise State Gets Verbal from King Aquatic Club’s Laura Williams

Laura Williams, a senior at Kentlake High School in Kent, Washington, has given a verbal commitment to join the Boise State Broncos’ class of 2019.

Williams is a multiple-time finalist at the Washington State 4A High School Championships. A 1:04/2:20 (100y/200y) breaststroker who trains with King Aquatic Club, Williams has dropped 3.5 seconds in the 100 breast and 7.5 in the 200 over the last two seasons. Her current times would have scored for the Broncos at the 2014 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships. She has a whole year before she first puts on a Broncos suit and will be even more valuable to them if she gets a to improve at this rhythm.

Her best times are:

100y breast: 1:04.81
200y breast: 2:20.03
200y IM: 2:09.28
400y IM: 4:38.66
100y back: 59.90
200y back: 2:12.91

“The reason I chose Boise State was it had everything I was looking for: from the sweet, kind and welcoming team to the dynamic coaching staff. The campus didn’t ‘feel’ too big and it’s very walkable. It’s very outdoorsy which I love! Also the entire town is supportive of Boise State and there is so much spirit! After my recruiting trip I knew Boise is where I wanted to be!”

The Mountain West champions are having a strong recruiting year. In addition to Williams, they have recently received verbal commitments from Southern Californians Mik Ranslem and Mandy Barnes.
