World Aquatics has released the swimming entries for the upcoming World Championships in Singapore, and although the psych sheets have yet to be uploaded to Omega Timing, SwimSwam commentator Troyy has come through and created seeded entry lists for us to delve into.
The official lists can currently be found under the “Athletes” section on the World Aquatics event page here.
The release of the official lists confirms some of the changes from expectation we reported on Wednesday, including Australia’s Mollie O’Callaghan dropping the women’s 100 back for Hannah Fredericks, and Elizabeth Dekkers taking Abbey Connor‘s spot in the women’s 200 fly.
The list also shows us that Leon Marchand will race the same schedule he did at the Paris Olympics, contesting the men’s 200 breast, 200 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM. That comes despite the fact he has yet to race the 200 fly in long course meters since Paris.
Another note on the men’s side is Great Britain’s Duncan Scott dropping the men’s 200 free after he tied with James Guy for the victory at the Aquatics GB Championships in April. Guy will be joined in the event by Matt Richards, who was pre-selected for the team after winning silver in the event at last summer’s Olympics.
Canada’s Josh Liendo will not race the men’s 100 free, which isn’t a big surprise given he placed 3rd at last month’s Canadian Trials, but he has been under the ‘A’ cut in the qualifying period, and Trials runner-up Antoine Sauve wasn’t under the ‘A’ standard and isn’t contesting the event in Singapore. Canada’s lone 100 free entry will be Ruslan Gaziev.
On the women’s side, following Penny Oleksiak‘s withdrawal from the meet, Taylor Ruck has added the 50 and 100 free to her schedule after placing 2nd in both at the Canadian Trials behind Oleksiak.
He doesn’t have the qualification standard. There was no second eligible American man for the event.
The country codes. What’s the difference between NAA and NAB? I assume they’re from banned countries but why the different designations?
NAA is Belarus and NAB is Russia. Last year, NAC was Mexico. Since they’re letting them swim relays, this is the administrative step to prevent Russia and Belarus from forming relays together.
FYI World Aquatics finally published the relays and relay only athletes so if you need them I updated that spreadsheet.

Any ideas as to why Dekkers is in & Abbey Connor is out? Doesn’t smell right to me

Swimming Australia need to make a statement. If she was Chinese we would all be making assumptions about the reason she is out.
Is Weinstein still doing the 5k and 10k this summer?
No. Denigan and Hansen in all 10k, 5k and 3k knockout.
No Milak and getting Marchand in an event he hasn’t competitively swam in a year and is right before the 200 IM he’ll be swimming. Luca Urlando, if ever there was a time for you to capitalize and win a world championship, it’s now.
If Luca can’t capitalize, I don’t know what else to say.
Here’s hoping Hubert swims the 200IM but scratches the 100 fly. The 200 back/200IM double seems more managable and I wanna see his tapered 200IM after two years with the best IM coach in the World.
Probably Greg Troy since Lochte is the WR since 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!
