Abby Carlson, a junior at Waukesha South High School and a member of the Waukesha Express Swim Team in Waukesha, Wisconsin, has made her verbal commitment to swim for the Wisconsin Badgers in the fall of 2021. A middle-distance freestyler, Abby will follow her brother Jacob (c/o 2024) to Madison. She was a member of the 800 freestyle relay team from WEST that set the Wisconsin state record in the event earlier in the year.
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison! Last year at the Wisconsin High School Girls Division 1 State Championship meet, Carlson took 5th place in the 200-yard IM (2:05.60) and was the runner up in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.63) and is the field’s top returner. A few weeks later at the Wisconsin Swimming 13 & Over Short Course State Championship meet, she won the 200, 500, and 1000-yard freestyles (1:49.93, 4:57.61, 10:09.74 respectively).

The Badgers are coming off a 5th place finish at the B1G Ten Championship meet in 2019. Carlson will join IM and breaststroker Katie McClintock as the committed members of the Badgers’ class of 2025.
