WISCA Ranks: Arrowhead Leapfrogs Madison West For #2 By Single Point

Though things are remaining remarkably stable atop the Wisconsin boys high school rankings, a fierce battle continues for the #2 slot in Division 1, with Arrowhead and Madison West jockeying for position.

Defending state champs Madison Memorial (Division 1, big schools) and Monona Grove (Division 2, small schools) hang onto their #1 rankings for the fifth consecutive week. No other teams have sat in the top slot yet this year.

But in Division 1, second place swung back to Arrowhead by just a single point in the ranking system, despite a win by defending state runners-up Madison West at the Marquette Invite. West now sits third, as that second slot has bounced back and forth between the teams a number of times this year.

For Division 2, defending state champs Monona Grove traveled to Iowa over the weekend to take on the Iowa state champs, Iowa City West. Iowa City West came up with the win at the Linn-Marr Invite, but Monona Grove’s third-place finish (Des Moines Dowling Catholic was second) was enough to keep them in the #1 slot in WISCA’s ranks.

The Division 2 rankings have hardly shifted at all in 2016, with the top 6 remaining stable this week after the entire top 8 did not move in last week’s rankings.
