Winter Juniors Qualifier Luke Shourds (2021) Verbally Commits to Louisville

Luke Shourds from Bowling Green, Kentucky has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Louisville for 2021-22. He will join John Bossler in the class of 2025.

A junior at Greenwood High School, Shourds specializes in IM and breaststroke and is a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 100/200 breast and the 200 IM. He placed 6th in the 200 IM (1:54.40) and 10th in the 100 breast (58.27) as a sophomore at the Kentucky High School State Championships last February. Shourds does his year-round swimming with RACE Aquatics Swim Club. He had a big summer, dropping significant amounts of time in his main events (-2.7 seconds in the 200m IM; -2.3 in the 400m IM; -1.8 in the 200m breast; -1.2 in the 100m breast) as well as in the 100m fly (-11.4 seconds), 100m free (-4.3 seconds), and 50 free (-2.2 seconds). Many of those drops came at the Kentucky Swimming LSC Senior Long Course State Championships where he won the 100 free (53.28), was runner-up in the 200 IM (2:09.03) and 400 IM (4:38.95), and placed 3rd in the 100 breast (1:06.21) and 200 breast (2:25.83), 4th in the 50 free (24.56), and 5th in the 100 fly (57.97).
