Winter Juniors Qualifier Jared Wallace Elects to Swim for UIW

Jared Wallace, a senior at Cypress Creek High School in Houston, Texas, has made a verbal commitment to swim for University of the Incarnate Word beginning in the fall of 2017. Wallace is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, and was a finalist in both the 100 back (10th) and 100 fly (14th) at the Texas UIL 6A Swimming & Diving State Meet in February.

“I made my decision because it’s a great school and one of the only schools that has the degree I want to pursue, Visualization and Game Design. It’s close to home, and the team is a great fit for me. The coach sees the great potential I have, and I believe the team will help my drive to achieving greatness.”

Wallace swims year-round for Team FINS. He picked up a spate of new times at the College Station Sectionals in February: 100/200y free, 100/200y back, 100/200y fly, and 200Y IM.

His top SCY times are:

  • 200 back – 1:49.42
  • 100 back – 51.20
  • 200 fly – 1:52.64
  • 100 fly – 49.51
  • 200 IM – 1:53.51

Wallace will join Garrett Hollcroft who also committed to the UIW class of 2021.
