Winter Juniors Qualifier Aoife Harkin Commits to Hawai’i for 2025-26

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Aoife Harkin, a recent graduate from Northville High School in Northville, Michigan, will swim and study at the University of Hawai’i in Manoa next fall.

Harkin swims year-round with Club Wolverine and specializes mainly in distance free and IM. She is a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 1000/1650 free and a Futures qualifier in the 100/200/500 free, 200 breast, and 200/400 IM.

At 2024 Winter Juniors East, Harkin competed in the 200 free, 500 free, and 1650 free, as well as all five CW relays. She earned a PB in the mile and finished 21st. In March, she added a pair of bests in the 100/200 free at Michigan Ultra Championships, where she placed 9th in the 100 free, 3rd in the 200 free, 4th in the 500 free, 4th in the 1000 free, and 10th in the 200 breast.

Harkin kicked off the 2025 long course season at the Eric Namesnik Memorial Open with three new LCM times: 100 free (1:00.20), 200 free (2:07.48), and 200 IM (2:25.08). She was a finalist in the 100 free (24th), 200 free (8th), 400 free (22nd), 200 breast (7th), and 200 IM (6th).

Best SCY times:

  • 1650 free – 16:56.80
  • 1000 free – 10:08.82
  • 500 free – 4:57.94
  • 200 free – 1:50.98
  • 100 free – 51.82
  • 200 IM – 2:05.65
  • 400 IM – 4:29.33
  • 200 breast – 2:22.22

After sweeping the men’s and women’s swimming and diving titles at the 2024 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, Hawai’i moved to the Big West Conference this past season and finished 3rd of six teams on the women’s side.

Harkin’s best times would have scored at the conference meet in the “A” final of the 500 free, the “B” finals of the 100 free, 200 free, and 400 IM, and the top 8 of the mile (4th). She will join Abby Fellinger, Aziza Meyer, and Brooke Bennett in the Rainbow Wahine class of 2029.
