WATCH: Blaise Vera Break Pitt School Record in 50 Free (19.10)

2019 PURDUE INVITE

Swimming on Thursday evening on day 1 of the 2019 Purdue Invite, Pitt junior Blaise Vera broke his own school record in the 50 yard free, winning the A final in 19.10. That took out his own record of 19.24 that he set last season.

Vera was actually the fastest swimmer in the nation in the 50 free coming into this weekend’s invitational-season kickoff, with a 19.53 from the team’s dual meet against Notre Dame.

Watch Race Video Below:

Vera also owns school records in the 100 free and 100 fly, which he’s scheduled to swim later in the meet. He finished 25th in the 50 free, 28th in the 100 fly, and 24th in the 100 free at last year’s NCAA Championships.

Vera swam a 47.00 in prelims of the 100 fly on Friday. Pitt sits in 4th place heading into Friday evening’s finals session.

It’s amazing to see Blaise come back from his crushing defeat by average joe’s gymnasium in the 2004 American Dodgeball Association of America international tournament

He’s not lying, he led off the 200 free relay on meet mobile. He also took out his 100 fly’s ridiculously fast, 21.55/25.92 for a 47.47. Painful way to swim that

“Racing suits etc.” won’t make you drop a whole second and more. He just just anchored 19.96 2 weeks ago on that 200 free relay.
