Vanderbilt Commodores Get 2 New NLIs from Madison Eaker and Johanna Goldblatt

Vanderbilt women’s swimming and diving have signed two to the class of 2019: Madison Eaker of Pearland, Texas, and Johanna Goldblatt from Fayetteville, Georgia. The pair will join Mary Beckwith who signed in the early period.

Madison Eaker is a senior at Pearland High School; she trains year-round with Pearland Aquatics. Eaker represented the Oilers at the 2015 Texas 6A State Meet, where she finaled in both the 500 free and 100 back. Eaker’s best SCY times over the last two seasons include:

  • 200 back – 2:00.74
  • 100 back – 56.78
  • 50 back – 26.70
  • 1650 free – 17:19.42
  • 500 free – 4:59.48
  • 200 free – 1:53.59
  • 100 free – 53.15
  • 400 IM – 4:34.44

Johanna Goldblatt competes for Starr’s Mill High School as well as Southern Crescent Aquatic Team. At the Georgia 1-5A State Swimming & Diving Meet in February, Goldblatt finished third in the 100 back and was also a finalist in the 100 free. She led off the Starr’s Mill medley relay and anchored their 400 free relay. Goldblatt’s top SCY events are:

  • 50 back – 26.56
  • 100 back – 57.17
  • 200 back – 2:07.86
  • 50 free – 23.82
  • 100 free – 52.57
  • 100 fly – 57.72

The Commodores compete in the ultra-fast SEC. At the 2015 conference meet, the Vanderbilt women finished 12th but broke an impressive 8 program records throughout the championships. And with only one scorer in the backstroke events at conference, the Dores will be counting on both Eaker and Goldblatt to add points in future years.
