DURHAM, N.H. – The Wildcats had the top finisher in 14 of the 16 events as the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team defeated Merrimack, 198-76, and Siena, 182-103, on Saturday at Swasey Pool. Siena earned the win over Merrimack, 216-67.
With two wins, the Wildcats move to 4-0 overall. Siena is now 4-2, while Merrimack falls to 2-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.), senior captain Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii) and junior Hannah Devine (Hamilton, N.J.) each posted the best time in two events. McKinney won the 100 freestyle (53.52) and had the top time in the 100 butterfly (56.89). Lum posted a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.81) and in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.95). Devine took first in the 500 freestyle (5:08.56) and 1000 freestyle (10:34.00).
- Graduate student Shelby Kasse (Hoofddorp, Netherlands) captured the 100 backstroke (57.18) to remain undefeated in the event this season, while freshman Caitlin Mason (Charleston, S.C.) won the 200 backstroke (2:07.52).
- Freshman Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) is also undefeated in the 50 freestyle as she placed first today with a time of 24.20, while sophomore Megumi Komoto (Schaumburg, Ill.) won the 200 butterfly at 2:07.33.
- Freshman Sophia Routzahn (Frederick, Md.) recorded the top time in the 200 IM with a 2:08.20 which is currently the best time in the conference.
- Sophomore Ana O’Neil (St. Paul, Minn.) won the three-meter diving event (210.30).
- The Wildcats also took both relays. The 400 medley relay team of Kasse, Routzahn, Komoto and sophomore Chiara Maria Pradissitto (Milan, Italy) won with a time of 3:53.46, while the 200 freestyle relay team of Mahoney, senior Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden), McKinney and Pradissitto recorded the best time at 1:38.50.

DURHAM, NH – Beginning a string of three straight weekends of competition, Siena Swimming & Diving (4-2, 1-0) continued its winning ways by recording a dual victory for the third time in as many meets this season. The Saints defeated Merrimack, 216-67, while falling to host New Hampshire, 182-103, in tri-meet action at the Swasey Pool in Durham, NH on Saturday.
Siena took home five individual event wins and boasted 12 personal best times while improving to 4-2 for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign. Senior Rory Kalac won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.52, while Elisabeth Balicanta took first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.95) and junior Emily Sulik did so in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.34) by way of UNH’s exhibition status toward the end of the meet. The Saints also saw the 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Kylie Carter, freshman Kaci Owens, sophomore Shaylea Triller, and Kalac record the third-fastest time in the MAAC in the event so far this season (1:41.38).
Having already been named MAAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week once this season, Kalac put together another impressive performance by pairing her 200 free mark with a 100 free split of 53.68 in the 400-medley relay, a 50 free time of 24.49, and a 200 free relay split of 24.70.
Many Saints took the pool for non-traditional events, resulting in 12 total best times. Senior Lauren Ostrander swam in the 200-yard butterfly (2:28.29) for the first time, while also taking third to lead Siena swimmers in the 1,000 free (11:16.55). Junior Audrey Shultz put forth three personal bests, including in the 50 free (26.45), 100 back (1:02.71), and the 200 back (2:15.98). Sophomore Francesca Coppola placed third in the 200 IM with a new personal best time of 2:22.07, while classmate Olivia Martin took fourth in the event (2:22.74), and sophomore Shaylea Triller placed fifth (2:23.18).
The team’s freshmen continued to gain collegiate experience in the pool, with Owens participating in the 200 back (2:16.81) for the first time. Brooke Pociask swam collegiate bests in the 100 fly (1:03.72) and 200 back (2:17.69), while Tori Spacciapolli did so via first-time swims in the 200 free (2:02.29) and the 500 free (5:30.56).
Siena’s diving regime was led by senior Lydia Delano, who took first in the one-meter diving event (219.98) and took third in three-meter diving (202.35).
Siena will next head home to begin what will be a program record five home meets this season. The Saints will host Sacred Heart at the Siena Swim Center on Saturday, November 12, with start time set for Noon on Siena All-Access.
