With many upcoming midseason meets scheduled for this week, three major meets will utilize the new NCAA Championship format in their events. However, none of the invitationals are using the new diving format, which splits the first three rounds of both 1-meter and 3-meter events, with the final three rounds.

Georgia’s Fall Invitational, Ohio State’s Fall Invitational, South Carolina’s Gamecock Invitational, and NC State’s Wolfpack Elite Invitational will all be using the new NCAA Championship format that was approved in October, yet none of them will be implementing the new diving format..

The Georgia Invite will run nearly identically to the new format, with one change to diving; divers will compete in six consecutive rounds of diving in each event, rather than splitting it up between the first three rounds and the second three rounds.

The meet will also include ‘B’ and ‘C’ finals, contrary to the new NCAA Championships format that removed consolation finals.

The meet was expanded from three days to the now four-day slate to follow this newly adopted format.

That meet will include the likes of Florida, LSU, Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Florida State.

Ohio State’s Fall Invitational will also be a four-day event, with the biggest change being the movement of the 1650 free to the fourth day, rather than on the first.

That meet will include Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Penn State, Purdue, UCLA, and Yale. Pitt and Northwestern will compete in diving only.

South Carolina and NC State’s invitationals will both be without the diving events as a whole.

Information to follow these midseason invites can be found here.

Ohio State Invite is keeping the 1650 on the last day (Friday) instead of moving it to the first day (Tuesday).
