UC San Diego Welcomes 14 Freshmen For 2020-21 Season

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The University of California, San Diego men’s and women’s swimming and diving team announces the addition of 14 incoming freshmen to the program for the 2020-21 season. The incoming class looks to build upon a successful season as it enters its first season as a Division I team.

“I am happy to welcome our incoming class of 2020,” Stated Head Coach Marko Djordjevic. “We are bringing 14 great young women and men to the Triton Family from California, Washington, Texas, Ohio, Colorado and Sweden. I believe they all will be  excellent additions, great fit to UC San Diego academically and as athletes, and will help us to keep building a great team culture and atmosphere for our future in Division I.”

Teagan Monroe

Hometown: Oxnard, CA

High School: Rio Mesa High School

Club Team: Buenaventura Swim Club

– Medaled at the California CIF Southern – Division 3 Section Championship all three seasons including a win the 100-butterfly and second place in the 100-backstroke in 2018

– Finalist in the SCS Race Series Champions in 2019

 Luke Pusateri

Hometown: Mount Vernon, WA

High School: Mount Vernon High School

Club Team: Skagit Valley Family YMCA 

– Ranked the ninth best swimmer in Washington according to CollegeSwimming.com

– Placed second in the 200-IM and fifth in the 100-breaststroke 2020 WIAA Boys 4A State Championship

– Won the 200-IM, 100-breast and 50 breast at the 2020 Northwest Region YMCA Championships

In July of 2020, the entire athletics program will begin a four-year transition to NCAA Division I, culminating in full DI status as a member of the Big West Conference for the 2024-25 academic year. At that time, all sports will be eligible for conference and NCAA postseason play.
