2025 World Junior Swimming Championships

Tunisian distance swimmer Rami Rahmouni, 16, will not be competing at the 2025 World Junior Championships after spraining his ankle during training.

ArabSwim on Instagram reported the injury at the end of July, saying that Rahmouni will be out of the pool for approximately a month according to “sources close to the athlete”.

Rahmouni has been having an exceptional year so far, carrying on the strong Tunisian distance swimmer tradition of the last few years.

In February, Rahmouni swam 15:10.51 to jump up to 4th in the all-time Tunisian rankings, coming in behind World Champions Ahmed Hafnaoui and Ahmed Jaouadi from the last few years and Oussama Mellouli from 2009.

The 16-year-old followed that swim up with a massive swim in the 800 free of 7:52.80 to win the French Junior Championships in April. This swim made him the 25th fastest 18 & Under in history with only a few 16-year-olds ahead of him on the list.

With his best times, he would have been seeded 7th in the 400 free (3:49.45), 5th in the 800 free (7:52.80), and 6th in the 1500 free (15:10.31).

If he won the French Jr Champs, does that mean he is also swimming with Lucas (or another French program) or does he train in Tunisia?
