Trials Semi-Finalist Annie Lazor to Transfer to Auburn

Annie Lazor, an Olympic Trials semi-finalist breaststroker, is transferring from Ohio State University to Auburn University.

The Beverly Hills, Michigan native finished 17th and 8th in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes as a true freshman at this year’s Big Ten Championships, but was a bit off her best times (1:02.43 and 2:11.60 in high school), just missing the NCAA meet in the longer distance.  While competing for Birmingham Bloomfield Atlantis in high school, Lazor qualified for the National Junior Team, and finished 15th in the 200 breaststroke last summer in Omaha.

Lazor is arriving at just the right time for Brett Hawke and the Tigers; although Auburn was loaded in the breaststrokes this season (they had four women break 1:00 in the 100), three of those four were seniors this season (Micah Lawrence, Lindsey Norberg, and Lauren Norberg).  With Abby Duncan as the only remaining NCAA qualifier, Lazor is a big-time pickup for Auburn, capable of immediately scoring at SEC’s, as well as qualifying for NCAA’s with a solid sophomore season.

Lazor will have three full years of available eligibility for the Tigers.
