The Rockets will return to the pool on Thursday, Dec. 21 after a break of almost three weeks when they travel to Fort Myers to swim against Florida Gulf Coast.

“We’ve been down in Fort Myers since Saturday and we’ve been training really well,” said head coach Jonas Persson. “The meet against FGCU will be a fun way to see where we are after a very successful fall and mid-season invitational. They are a well-coached team, and I think we will see some great races against one of the best mid-major teams in the country.”

Toledo returns to the pool following a fifth-place finish at the Zippy Invitational (Dec. 1-3). The meet was certainly a success for the Rockets as a unit, with 96 percent (75 of 78) of their times or dives qualifying as season-bests, as well as scoring in all nine of their relay swims. Sophomore Izzy Jones led the way for the Rockets, posting the lone event victory for Toledo in the 200-yard backstroke. Jones’ swim in the 200 backstroke finals (1:56.10) was enough to earn Top 100 honors in the country, coming in at No. 58, as well as being a new school record for the event.

Thursday’s meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., and will be the Rockets’ final meet of the 2017 calendar year. Toledo will return to the pool in the new year when it travels to Lexington, Ky. for a tri-meet with Ohio State and Kentucky on Jan. 5-6.

Actually, the cut came in 2003.

Looks like some great swims by the Rockets. A great team race is shaping up for 5-7th at this year’s MAC Championships.

i think Swim Swam should think about identifying schools that have dropped their men’s team. Toledo is one of them. So maybe a footnote that states Toledo only runs a women’s program having dropped their men’s program in 2010.
