Tennessee Transfer Virginia Tiberti Commits to UCLA for Sophomore Season

Italian diver Virginia Tiberti, is headed to the West Coast, announcing her transfer from Tennessee to UCLA to begin her sophomore year.

Prior to her time in Knoxville, Tiberti was a member of the Italian Junior National team, having competed at the European Junior Championships in 2022, where she finished 8th in the synchronized platform event with Italian teammate Irene Pesce, finishing with 197.92 points.

Tiberti’s Best Scores:

Event Score
1 Meter 246.1
3 Meter 180.3

The Rome native only dove in three meets with the Volunteers, where she posted a lifetime best in the 1m at the Tennessee Invitational with her 246.10 (9th overall). Her 3m personal best mark came at a dual meet between Tennessee and Georgia (180.30), where she finished 5th.

Her top scores would have been 5th on last season’s UCLA women’s diving team, while her 3m would have ranked 6th.

At the B1G Championships, the UCLA women’s team finished 7th out of 14 teams. Tiberti’s scores project to about 26th in the 1m and 54th in the 3m, though diving results can vary significantly from meet to meet and aren’t as directly comparable across competitions as swimming times.
