Tennessee Picks Up Late Commitment from NAC Sprinter Tim Raab

Tim Raab of Brentwood High School in Tennessee will stay in state, as he’s committed to the Tennessee Volunteers. Raab swims club for the Nashville Aquatic Club with sisters Meghan and Allie. Meghan swims for the University of Georgia, while Allie is currently a high school sophomore.

Raab’s Top Times

  • 50 free – 20.83
  • 100 free – 45.97

At the 2016 Tennessee HS State Championships, Raab finished third in the 50 free (20.94/20.91 prelims) and fifth in the 100 free (45.97). He also swam breaststroke on Brentwood’s 4th place 200 medley relay and anchored their 400 free relay, which made the A final, but was DQ’d in that final.

Raab seems to have loads of potential. Though he is a senior at Brentwood, this was only his second high school swim season. His first was in his junior year at Hershey High School in PA, where he finished 8th in the 50 free (21.05) and 17th in the 100 free (47.33). He’s since made big improvement in the 100 especially.

“Unlike my older sister, I never expected to be able to swim in college. Yet after I had been swimming in high school for only two seasons, Matt Kredich contacted me and I came to Knoxville for a visit. I was swayed by the incredible opportunities and unique coaching style that UT swimming had to offer. At that point, I knew Tennessee was the place for me.”

Raab has some work to do before he’ll be able to contribute at the conference scoring level– it took a 20-low and a 44-low to make it back in the C final of the 50 free and 100 free, respectively, at the 2016 SEC Championships.
