London Hughes of Chula Vista, California has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Washington State beginning in fall 2026.

Hughes swims for South Bay Aquatics in the San Diego area. She finished her long course season at Summer Juniors where she was 43rd in the 200 fly in a 2:20.31. She also posted a lifetime best 29.97 in the 50 fly.
She began her senior year at Eastlake Senior High School this fall. In May, she swam at the CIF State Championship swimming in prelims of the 100 fly. She also was a member of the team’s 400 free relay.
Hughes’ Best SCY Times Are:
- 100 fly: 56.08
- 200 fly: 2:01.95
- 400 IM: 4:28.51
The Washington State women finished 5th out of 10 teams at the 2025 Mountain West Conference Championships. Breaststroker Emily Lundgren led the way with 91 individual points and Lundgren went on to make the ‘A’ final of the 200 breast at the 2025 NCAA Championships. Lundgren is also a San Diego native.
Based on her best times, Hughes would already make the ‘A’ final of the 200 fly at the conference level. Dori Hatazi was one of only two scorers in the event as she won the conference title in a 1:55.55. In addition, Hughes has a best time in the 400 IM that would have made the conference ‘C’ final. It took a 55.65 to final in the 100 fly at the conference level.
Hughes will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Ivy Ladrow, Marlee Winser, Lauren Sexton, and Audrey Hill.
