ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men’s swimming and diving team used 14 individual victories to defeat Binghamton, 201-99, on Senior Day Monday afternoon at the Reilly Center Pool.

The Bonnies started the day by winning the 200-medley relay behind the team of Maciej DanilewskiHylton CollinsonGeorge Kalletta and David Shakhnazarov, clocking in at 1:34.84.

In the 1000-freestyle, freshman Elias Petri grabbed the win with a time of 10:00.43, 12 seconds ahead of second place. Shakhnazarov picked up another win for the Bonnies in the 200-freestyle, finishing in 1:46.10.

Tjaard Krusch was the next Bonnies swimmer to win, taking first place in the 100-backstroke with a time of 51.45. Collinson followed him winning the 100-breaststroke, posting a time of 58.40. Alec Thomas earned another victory­­­­­­ for the Brown and White, swimming a 21.39 for first place in the 50-freestyle.

The Bonnies continued their winning ways into the latter stages of the meet, winning the 100-freestyle, 200-backstroke, 200-breaststroke and the 500-freestyle. Nick Burdo captured his first win of the day in the 100-freestyle, turning in a time of 47.19 while Krusch won the 200-backstroke with a time of 1:56.57. Collison took first in the 200-breaststroke, clocking in at 2:10.04, and Petri claimed his second win of the day in the 500-freestyle, finishing in at 4:51.85.

Junior Michael Bruno dominated on the diving boards, taking both the 1- and 3-meter dives with total scores of 301.425 and 297.52, respectively.

Collinson earned his third victory of the afternoon, winning the 400-IM in 4:13.02, just .4 seconds ahead of second place.

In the last event, Krusch led teammates Thomas, Marcus Swartfager, and William Lowe to first place in the 200-freestyle relay, touching the wall in 1:26.25.

St. Bonaventure is back in action Friday, Jan. 31 when they head to Lewiston, N.Y. to compete with Niagara. Diving will begin at 11:00 a.m. while swimming is slated for 1:30 p.m.

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women’s swimming and diving team defeated Binghamton, 188-112, on Senior Day Monday afternoon, taking victory in 15 out of 16 events along the way.

The team of Zanre OberholzerRachel KimmelMia Cote and Ivana Janssen opened the meet with a bang, winning the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:47.93.

Claire Schaef earned a win in the 1000-freestyle, clocking in at 10:44.37. Katrina Wardner followed her with a victory in the 200-freestyle, ringing in at 1:56.37.

Oberholzer and Kimmel then earned back-to-back victories for the Bonnies in the 100-backstroke and 100-breaststroke. Oberholzer turned in a time of 58.20 to win the 100-backstroke and Kimmel won the 100-breaststroke, with a victorious time of 1:05.18.

In the 200-butterfly, Mia Cote took first place, finishing in 2:09.09, two seconds ahead of second place. Wardner claimed another victory in the 100-freestyle, taking first place in 53.52.

Oberholzer, Kimmel, Schaef and Cote all captured a second victory on the afternoon for the Bonnies.

Oberholzer won the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:08.11 and Kimmel captured first in the 200-breaststroke, ringing in at 2:21.66. Schaef earned the win in the 500-freestyle in 5:14.55 while Cote won her second butterfly event of the afternoon, winning the 100-butterfly in 57.36.

On the diving boards, senior Elena Rohr swept both the 1- and 3-meter dives with total scores of 274.875 and 272.33, respectively. Senior Izzy Aguilera grabbed second in the 3-meter dive behind Rohr, earning 248.18 points.

Wardner went on to win a third event Monday, taking first in the 400-IM with a time of 4:36.65.

In the final event of the afternoon, Janssen led teammates Cote, Hayley Tasselmyer, and Wardner to victory in the 200-freestyle relay, touching the wall in 1:38.24.

The Bonnies are off until Friday, Jan. 31 when they travel to Lewiston, N.Y. to take on Niagara. Diving is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. while swimming is set for 1:30 p.m.

OLEAN, N.Y. – The Binghamton swimming & diving teams wrapped a busy three weeks of training and meets at St. Bonaventure on Monday afternoon. The Bearcat women were defeated by the host Bonnies 188-112 while the men lost 201-99.

On the women’s side, senior Olivia Santos won the 50 free for the fourth time in as many meets. Against the Bonnies, she clocked a time of 24.70.

In the men’s meet, the Bearcats swept the butterfly events. Freshman Justin Meyn captured the 100 fly (51.86) while senior Ross Bernstein took top honors in the 200 fly (1:55.46).

Binghamton now has three weeks before the America East Championships. The four-day event will be held Feb. 13-16 and be hosted by WPI.
