…American Olympic Claire Donahue is receiving a huge honor, as her hometown of Lenoir City, Tennessee is naming their 6-lane, 25-yard city pool (with two water slides!) after her. Lenoir City is home to just over 6,000 people, and Donahue is the most famous of them: she finished 7th at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 100 fly and won a gold medal as a prelims swimmer on the 400 medley relay…

…Spain’s two biggest star swimmers, Mireia Belmonte-Garcia and Aschwin Wildeboer, have both decided that they will train with CN Sabadell in Barcelona for the foreseeable future as they prepare for the upcoming World Championships to be hosted in that same city. The two are coming from very different situations: Belmonte has trained there for the last four years on her way to two Olympic silver medals (the first ever Spanish swimmer to achieve that feat). She has been under a lot of pressure to go and train internationally, but instead with stay with Spain’s most powerful club. Wildeboer, on the other hand, has been training with his father Paulus at the Danish National Training Center for the last four years. He decided to return home after failing to make a backstroke final at the Olympics…

Because of the probational nature of Declan Crosbie mandate to avoid such areas, if he is caught in violation of the order he would be remanded to jail without the need for a conviction…

I wonder if his spying on the Chinese team actually had more noble reasons behind it. There is a really nteresting article over at swimnews.com by Craig Lord that really puts their accomplishments in a new light.

From the Craig Lord article about Ye cited by Bossanova:

“The way in which she destroyed the likes of Elizabeth Beisel, the American world champion whose silver-medal winning time almost 3sec away marked the second best ever seen in a textile suit beyond the anomaly ahead of her, sparked controversy.”
