Springfield’s Madeline Nelson Verbally Commits to D2 Powerhouse Drury

Madeline Nelson from Springfield Aquatics in Springfield, Missouri, has verbally committed to swim for Drury University in 2015-16.

“I am excited to swim for Drury University next fall. I can’t wait to be a part of this winning team. Go panthers!”

Nelson is a senior at Glendale High School in Springfield. At the 2014 MSHSAA Girls State Swimming Championship, Nelson placed third in the 100 free (52.57) and fifth in the 100 breast (1:06.99). She swam breaststroke (29.56) on Glendale’s 200 medley relay and she was the third leg of their 400 free relay that came within .21 of breaking the Missouri state record.

Nelson’s top times over the last two seasons are:

50y free – 24.88
50m free – 27.79
100y free – 52.54
100m free – 1:00.87
100y breast – 1:06.43
100m breast – 1:17.97

Nelson should be a great asset for the Panthers. Her 50 free and 100 breast would have scored in the B-final at the 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships and her 100 free would have made top eight.
