Rochester Swim Club’s Sophie Blixt has verbally committed to join the University of South Dakota women’s program for the fall of 2026.

Blixt turned in a 2nd-place finish at the Minnesota Girls Class AA State Championships last season in the 100 breaststroke. Representing Century High School in Rochester, Minn., she touched in 1:03.98, marking a new lifetime best in the event. She also added an 8th-place finish in the 100 free in 51.43.
Blixt holds a trio of respectable sprint freestyle times as well. Her 50 free best came in 2022 at the MSHSL Girls Section 1AA Meet, where she swam 23.63. At the same meet two years later, she set her 100 free best in 51.14. And just this month, Blixt swam 1:53.49 in her 200 free, marking her fastest swim ever in the event.
She competed at the Futures Championships in Madison this past summer (LCM). There she set a slew of long-course bests, including the 50 breast (34.19), 50 breast (28.67), 100 free (59.40), and the 200 breast (2:42.97).

The South Dakota women finished 2nd at the 2025 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships last season.
Based on Blixt’s best times, she would have made the ‘B’ final in the 50 free and 100 free, and the ‘C’ final in the 200 free at those championships.
Blixt brings a dynamic mix of sprint free and breaststroke speed. She could compete in a variety of event combinations with this skillset, making her a useful tool for individual and relay scoring for the Coyotes.
Blixt will be joined by Addison Palmer and Addison Forshee in the Coyotes’ 2026 recruiting class.
