Turkish native Yavuz Omer Aga has verbally committed to Duke University as a part of the men’s 2026 recruiting class.

At the World Junior Championships (LCM) this past summer, Omer Aga finished 7th overall in the boys’ 100 butterfly in a time of 53.01 after setting a personal best of 52.73 in the prelims. He also finished 18th in the 50 fly, clocking 24.36 for a new lifetime best.
Omer Aga also competed in the European Junior Championships (LCM) in July. There, he turned in a 10th-place performance in the 100 fly (53.61), took 16th in the 50 fly (24.69), and added a 36th-place showing in the 50 backstroke (26.82).
Omer Aga has some backstroke speed along with his fly power. He holds a long course best in the 100 back of 1:00.04 from the Turkey Arena Championships, and 2:10.17 in the 200 back from the Turkish Turkcell Open.

The Blue Devil men finished 12th at the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships last season.
Based on Omer Aga’s best converted times, he would have projected to finish as the 1st alternate in the 100 fly, 53rd in the 100 back, and 49th in the 200 back.
Outside of his 100 fly, there will be some time to figure out his other two events. The switch to short-course yards will be an interesting switch for Omer Aga.
There is some potential for him to grow into a full-blown butterfly, or expand into the backstroke, or even some IM if he decides to diversify his competition portfolio.
Omer Aga joins Ethan Bathala, Sam Hennenfent, and Rawlings Leachman in the Blue Devils’ class of 2030.
