Seven Scratch The Men’s 100 Freestyle; Phelps Still Swimming Both Events

There were no major scratches between todays prelims and finals. The majority of the A and B finals will remain the same, with the exception of the men’s 100 freestyle. The Santa Clara Grand Prix has 9 swimmers in each heat during finals. 36 swimmers will be able to swim tonight in finals, 4 more swimmers than usual.

In the women’s 100 freestyle, Rachel Bootsma and Stephanie Au scratched out of the D final, bumping two swimmers up. The majority of day 2’s scratches came from the men’s 100 freestyle. Seven swimmers scratched out of the B, C, and D finals. Seth Stubblefield, Jason Dunford, Mitch D’Arrigo, Eugene Godsoe, Jack Conger, Clay Youngquist, and Charlie Houchin are the names you will not be seeing in the heat sheet tonight. The cut line in the men’s 100 freestyle fell from 36 to 43.

There was only one scratch out of the back of the women’s 200 breaststroke from Katie Records, and there were no scratches in the men’s 200 breaststroke.

A pair of North Baltimore swimmers scratched out of the finals of the men’s and women’s 400 freestyles. Allison Schmitt and Yannick Agnel will not be swimming after under performing this morning.
