Seminoles Keep #18 Anthony Pineiro In-state for 2026-27

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Anthony Pineiro from Miami, Florida, has committed to swim and study at Florida State University in Tallahassee beginning in the fall of 2026.

At the time of his verbal pledge, he wrote on social media: “I am beyond blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida State University. First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for guiding me through this journey and providing me with the strength, opportunities, and faith to pursue my dreams. I also want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, coaches, teammates, and friends who have supported me every step of the way. GO NOLES 🍢❤️💛 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6”

Pineiro is a big pick up for the Seminoles. We ranked him #18 in the cohort on our Way Too Early list of top swimmers in the high school class of 2026. At the time he ranked 3rd in the 100 back (48.24) and 10th in the 100 fly (48.43). Since then, he has dropped two-tenths in the 100 fly, half a second in the 100 back, and 2.9 seconds in the 200 back (from 1:47.7 to 1:44.8).

Representing G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School at the 2024 FHSAA Class 4A (largest schools) State Swimming and Diving Championships, Pineiro lowered his PBs in the 50 back (22.91), 100 back (47.69), and 100 fly (48.20). He was runner-up in both individual events, led off the winning 200 medley relay, and anchored (44.3) the runner-up 400 free relay – all of which helped the Braddock boys win the 4A state title.

Swimming for Eagle Aquatics at 2024 Winter Juniors East, he competed in the 200 free, 100/200 back, and 100/200 fly. He finaled in both backstroke events and left the meet with new times in the 200 back and 200 free (1:39.56). Pineiro recently moved to South Florida Stallions and kicked off long course season with a big PB in the 200 free (1:53.02) at PSS Ft. Lauderdale.

Pineiro should overlap two years with the Seminoles’ top back/fly specialist last season, Michel Arkhangelskiy. It took 46.21 in the 100 fly and / and 46.71/1:42.64 in the 100/200 back to score at 2025 ACC Championships.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord…” romans 8:38-39

Best SCY times:

  • 100 back – 47.69
  • 200 back – 1:44.83
  • 100 fly – 48.20
