Scoring The 2026 Women’s NCAA Championship Psych Sheets

2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

The official psych sheets for the 2026 Women’s NCAA Championships dropped on Wednesday, confirming the 281 female swimmers who will compete in the biggest meet of the season in two weeks in Atlanta.

With the entry lists finalized, we can now score out the psych sheets to see how the team race projects to unfold, and to no surprise, it’s the University of Virginia sitting atop the rankings.

The five-time defending champion Cavaliers are in a fantastic position to make it six in a row, sitting 235 points clear of 2nd-place Michigan in the scored psych sheets (which don’t include diving).

UVA is seeded to score 569.5 points, while Michigan (334.5) and Stanford (326.5) are locked in a tight race for 2nd with Texas (295.5), Cal (286) and Tennessee (279) not too far behind.

For reference, the Cavaliers were projected to score 534 points last season and finished with 544, winning the title by 127 points over Stanford.

Thank you to Andrew Mering for compiling this information.

Notes:

  • Virginia is seeded to score an incredible 369.5 individual points, nearly double the total of the next-highest team, Texas (188.5).
  • The Cavaliers are also projected to score the maximum 200 relay points as the top seed in all five events—that was also the case last year, when they ended up with 194 after winning four and placing 2nd to Stanford in the 800 free relay.
  • Virginia’s 235-point margin over the next-best team, Michigan, would on its own rank 8th in the projections.
  • Michigan comes in owning the #2 seed (334.5 points) after they placed 9th last season with 196 points. However, it’s worth noting they had the sixth-most points on the 2025 psych sheets (209.5 points), and fell three spots in the standings.
  • Indiana was one point behind the Wolverines in 2025 psych sheet scoring, but finished more than 100 points clear of them at NCAAs with 312. Although the Hoosiers scored 47 diving points, they still outperformed their seeded points in the pool by a wide margin (+56.5 with 265).
  • Compared to the other top-ranked teams, Texas is losing a lot of ground on the relays, seeded to score just 107 points, which is the lowest among the top eight. This is due in part to the Longhorns being seeded outside the top eight in the 200 free (10th), and the 200 and 400 medley (9th) relays.
  • Florida, 6th last season, ranks 12th in psych sheet scoring with 83.5 points, including just 18 on relays. Last year, the Gators scored 110 relay points.

Am I correct in noticing that A&M has no swimmers at NCs? That seems like a big shift for them if so.

Friends, Texans, countrymen, lend me your ears. Don’t forget about the Texas two-step (peak in Nov, crater in Mar).

The Day 4 collapse was epic.

Warning:

The Surgeon General has determined that drinking University of Texas snake oil can cause permanent brain damage.

To be or not to B-Final, that is the question.

Have they released the D3 official psych sheets yet?

Yes. Should be up tonight – Laura is working on them but got caught in a snowstorm on the way home from work last night.

Thanks for the analysis. On a different note, does anyone know for certain if single session tickets will be sold at NCAAs? And, if yes, will they be more than $30 per session?

Scary thing is that Virginia swimmers out of eligibility (Canny, Weber, and Greenwaldt) add up to (only?) 61 of the 569.5 points. And they’ll lose Novelline and Skirboll, who are potential scorers.

Todd DeSorbo will need to surreptitiously pry loose a female swimmer at the 2026 NCAA DI Championships for the 2026-2027 NCAA Season. The most obvious swimmer from the University of Virginia women’s squad will need to make contact in the warmup pool to the potential transfer candidate in order to drop the hint. In British parlance, it’s called “tapping up” with the phrase most commonly associated with the Premier League.

The scoring doesn’t account for diving points. Michigan won’t finish 2nd for that reason.

We’ve got a swimmer who is seeded with a 47.4/1:42.6/4:40 seeded to score 4.5 points. In 2021 that gets you 2nd t4th and 8th.

In fairness, 2021 was a pretty slow meet (Covid), but yes I get your point.
