SC High School State Champion Kirsti McEnroe (’22) Verbally Commits to Stanford

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

High school junior Kirsti McEnroe from Spartanburg, South Carolina has announced her verbal commitment to Stanford University for the fall of 2022. Taking a page out of the Polonsky family playbook, Kirsti and her older sister Annika are about to be arch-rivals, as Annika McEnroe is headed to Cal in 2021-22.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Stanford University! It has been my dream for as long as I can remember and I am thrilled to join such an amazing team. Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for helping me get to this point! GO CARD❤️🌲 #fearthetree”

A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, McEnroe is a rising senior at Spartanburg High School. She has one at least one event at the South Carolina High School State Championships every year since 8th grade, when she won the 100 free at the 2017 SCHSL 5A State Championships with 52.49. This past October, she won state crowns in both the 100 free (50.25) and 200 free (1:47.26), with a PB in the latter.

In club swimming, McEnroe represents Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club. She was added to the “Best of the Rest” section of our list of Top 20 Girls Recruits from the Class of 2022 owing to her sprint free performances. At the recent 18&U Spring Cup in Orlando in April, she dropped over a second from her previous PB in the LCM 100 free to win with 56.49. She placed 4th in the 50 free (26.35) and 5th in the 200 free (2:02.92) with lifetime bests in those events, as well. McEnroe updated her times in the 50/100/500 free at the North Carolina YMCA Swim Festival hosted by YOTA where she won the 50-through-500 free events and the 100 back.

Top SCY times:

  • 50 free – 22.92
  • 100 free – 49.43
  • 200 free – 1:47.26
  • 200 IM – 2:00.96
  • 200 back – 1:59.02

McEnroe is the first public commitment to the Cardinal class of 2026. Her times would already score at the Pac-12 conference level in the 50 free (C final), 100 free (C final), and 200 free (B final). Stanford will have graduated Anya Goeders and Amalia Fackenthal by the time she starts, but McEnroe will overlap with Emma Wheal and Alex Crisera.
