SAN JOSE, Calif.- Vilma Lindberg won two events in an exciting meet that came down to the final event as the San José State swimming and diving team won the dual meet with UC Davis at the SRAC Aquatics Center.
The meet was tied at 138 heading into the last event of the day, the 400 Freestyle Relay. The team consisting of Laís e Silva, Nikki Lahey, Keira Vail and Dalton Sickon won the event with a time of 3:26.38, to give SJSU the win.
- The Spartans opened the day winning in the 200-yard Medley Relay with the team of Genevieve George, Ela Freiman, Lillie Grover and Dalton Sickon at 1:44:35
- Lindberg won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.49) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.94)
- Freiman won the 200-yard butterfly at 2:01.09
- Sickon won the 50-yard freestyle at 23.69
- Lillie Grover and Ava Bautista went first and second in the 100-yard butterfly
UP NEXT – The Spartans compete in a tri-meet at Pacific and UC Santa Cruz in Stockton, Calif., next Saturday the 25th.

The short story: UC Davis opened its 2025–26 season with a competitive dual meet at San Jose State, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes from Ezmee Jones, Gabi Bellin, Katherine Lim, and Leila Busch.
POOL SIDE
- Ezmee Jones captured first place in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:44.61).
- Gabi Bellin won the 200-yard freestyle and added a third-place finish in the 100 free.
- Katherine Lim and Leila Busch swept the top spots in diving, with Lim taking the 3-meter and Busch winning the 1-meter.
- UC Davis took second in both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies started the meet strong, earning second place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.05, just behind San José State’s winning team.
- Distance specialist Ezmee Jones led a dominant UC Davis performance in the 1000-yard freestyle, winning the event ahead of teammates Elena Gingras and Ayanna Thompson, who rounded out a top-three Aggie sweep.
- In the 200-yard freestyle, Bellin clocked 1:52.54 to take first, while Angelina Komashko and Elsie Luisetti finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
- The Aggies continued to perform well in the backstroke, with Emily Scheberies placing first in the 100 back (57.55) and McKenna Valenta following closely in second.
- UC Davis maintained strong results across the board, as Kayla Gregory and Aileen Zheng finished second and third in the 100 breaststroke, and Zoe Childers and Ella Ackerman added second- and third-place finishes in the 200 butterfly.
- Ackerman later secured a win in the 500-yard freestyle, leading a 1-2-3 UC Davis sweep with Komashko and Gingras.
- On the boards, the Aggies dominated diving competition: Lim won the 3-meter event with a score of 283.35, while Busch claimed the 1-meter title with 247.58. Mackenzie Young added third-place finishes in both events.
- UC Davis capped the meet with a runner-up finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, wrapping up a strong opening performance despite falling to the Spartans in team scoring.
