After returning to the pool late June post a three month pause in training due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Coronado Swim Association (CSA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit competitive swim team, partnered with legendary swim coach David Marsh and his two high performance programs Team Elite and Team Elite Stingrays to form their College Contingency Team. The team was developed to provide a training option for college swimmers looking to drive their athletic aspirations forward during the 2020-2021 season.
As many college conferences around the country pause athletic competition and coaches look to redshirt athletes to preserve eligibility for their swimmers, Team Elite and CSA have postured to support these athletes during this unprecedented time. The program is designed to target post-graduate, redshirt and gap-year swimmers who are looking for a full spectrum high-performance training program.
“I have had many college athletes reach out asking for opportunities to train with us in beautiful San Diego and help advance their swimming careers, including preparation for Olympic Trials. The College Contingency Team is our answer to their requests. We have selected highly experienced coaches ready to lead this team and our athletes to the next level.” Coach Marsh, Team Elite Head Coach and Strategic Vision Officer for CSA. “This is such a unique opportunity for athletes to grow physically and mentally. We want to provide a high performance team environment for young college swimmers who are eager to reach their full potential.”
Former Tennessee Volunteers swimmer and now President of CSA, Peter McVey said, “We are excited to be strategically aligned and partnered with Coach Marsh’s highly successful programs. If there is one thing we’ve learned through COVID-19, we are better together. Our College Contingency Team is another great opportunity to continue to surround our younger athletes with positive role models in our sport.”
Helping to foster well-rounded excellence, Team Elite and CSA believes in providing a technique-focused swimming environment that encourages its athletes to reach their full potential, both in and out of the pool.
