FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash set the tone early with a win in the 200 medley relay, as Rubio, Weth, Reegan Brown, and Kathryn Tanis combined for a time of 1:49.92.

Rubio delivered a standout performance, winning both the 100 and 200 backstroke events — including a pool record time of 58.40 in the 100 back.

Weth matched that excellence in the breaststroke, claiming victories in both the 100 and 200 events. Her 100 breaststroke time of 1:06.87 established another Anttonen Natatorium pool record.

Sara Turner continued her consistent form with a win in the 500 freestyle (5:19.41) and a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:58.34).

The Red Flash also dominated the 100 butterfly, sweeping the top three spots with Ella Anderson (1:01.24), Laryssa Webster (1:01.53), and Brown (1:01.87). Turner capped her meet with a victory in the 200 IM (2:12.84).

Saint Francis closed out the afternoon in style as Brown, Katie Webster, Rubio, and Tanis took first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.02.

FLASH NUGGETS
Rubio and Weth each recorded two individual victories and broke pool records at Millersville.

Turner secured two top finishes and continued to lead the Red Flash in mid-distance events.

The Red Flash has now defeated Millersville in back-to-back seasons, both on nearly the same October weekend.

Saint Francis will travel to Brooklyn, N.Y., for a tri-meet against LIU and Manhattan on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Steinberg Wellness Center.

The Red Flash hold a 4–1 all-time record against LIU, including a narrow 132–129 victory in 2022–23. Saint Francis also owns a 1–0 record against Manhattan, highlighted by a 263–68 win in 2019–20.

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville University women’s swimming squad opened their season with a dual meet against Saint Francis University, falling by a final score of 155-107. Despite the loss, the Marauders delivered an impressive performance, earning 10 PSAC Championship qualifying times and adding four new marks to Millersville’s all-time top 10 records. The 2025-26 relay team now ranks 10th in program history for the 200-medley relay, while Hannah Baumgardner claimed the ninth spot in the 1,000 freestyle, Abigail Lowman tied for sixth in the 100 back, and Violet Pizzillo is ninth in the 200 fly.

The 200-medley relay team of Claire WeaverLeah Eckert, Pizzillo, and Lowman posted a time of 1:50.35 to secure a second-place finish. In the distance events, Baumgardner clocked an 11:02.98 in the 1,000 freestyle, finishing behind Millersville’s Jane McClelland, who holds the No. 2 time in program history. Lowman earned runner-up finish with a 59.72 in the 100 backstroke, while Pizzillo added another second-place showing in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:17.68. Baumgardner, Pizzillo, and Lowman qualified for the PSAC Championships.

In addition, McClelland, Christiana Snavely, Weaver, Eckert, Izabella Wreski, and Anna Sassaman qualified for the PSAC Championships. McClelland led the way with a winning time of 10:59.26 in the 1000-yard freestyle, followed by Snavely at 11:09.42 and Baumgardner to give Millersville a sweep of the top three spots. Weaver captured first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:58.18, while Eckert added a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:08.53, just ahead of Wreski at 1:11.22. Sassaman rounded out the standout performances with times of 25.45 in the 50-yard freestyle and 55.98 in the 100-yard freestyle.

“Our team was very excited heading into the first meet of the year,” said ‘Ville coach Evan Anthony. “It had been a long stretch of training leading into this meet, but they were confident in their ability to get up and race through the tough training. Watching them in practice, I knew there would be great swims today and it was exciting to see them happen. There are a few areas we will continue to fine tune in practice to help us in our races. This team has continued to buy-in and bring the energy each day which has made it a really fun year so far.”

The Marauders are back in the water Saturday, Nov.  1 when they travel to East Stroudsburg.
