HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Francis earned a first-place finish in the opening event of the day with Inde Patterson (Moon Township, Pa.), Oksana Horova (Kraków, Poland), Laryssa Webster (Bradford, Pa.) and Kathryn Tanis (Reading, Pa.) finishing the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.76.

Aurem Pifarre (Balaguer, Spain) earned a first-place win in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 10:43.08.

Sara Blanco (Madrid, Spain) picked up another win for the Red Flash in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.84.

Krysta Weik (Lebanon, Pa.) won the 50-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 30.97.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Sara Turner (Enola, Pa.) won with a time of 59.79.

Anna Bernasconi (Albany, N.Y.) took first place in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 24.49. Later in the meet, she also won the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 25.84.

Nicole López Kohlmann (Mexico City, Mexico) finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.60.

Marija Dodik (Zagreb, Croatia) won the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:00.96.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Julia Springer (Richmond, Va.) earned first place with a time of 5:53.19.

Amalia Bradburn (Reading, Pa.) finished first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.00.

Saint Francis came out on top in the final event of the day, winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.92. McKenzie Watt (Asheville, Pa.), Lizzie Smeltzer (Irwin, Pa.), López Kohlmann and Bernasconi made up the winning relay.

UP NEXT
The Red Flash will return to Pittsburgh next weekend for the Western PA Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. Friday’s events will begin at 4 p.m., and Saturday’s events will start at 10 a.m.

LORETTO, Pa. – The Lock Haven women’s swimming team traveled to Saint Francis for its final dual meet of the regular season on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 21).

The Bald Eagles traveled to the Stokes Natatorium in Loretta, Pennsylvania.

In preparation for the 2023-24 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships coming up in a few weeks, the Bald Eagles challenged themselves against NCAA DI Saint Francis on Sunday afternoon and impressed with their efforts.

Sydney Houck (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon), Holly Cleworth (Cape Town, Western Cape; South Africa/Springfield Convent of the Holy Rosary) and Jessie Noldy (Hop Bottom, Pa./Elk Lake) stood out for their individual efforts, as Houck and Cleworth brought home wins and Noldy secured a personal best.

Cleworth brought home gold in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 28.38. Cleworth added a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (26.10) and 100-yard backstroke (1:05.75).

Houck continued her dominant week, finishing first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.43.

Noldy swam a personal best 100-yard free with a time of 1:02.63.

Alaina Cane (Bellefonte, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) finished second in the 50-yard butterfly with a swim of 29.60, while Mackenzie Eades (Derry, Pa./Derry) followed suite in the 200-yard individual medley (2:29.93).

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Houck, Noldy, Nora Craig (Dover, Pa./Dover) and Emma Pequignot (Dover, Pa./Dover) placed second with a time of 1:49.73.

UP NEXT:
The Bald Eagles have their sights set on the PSAC Championships which will be held over four days (Feb. 14-17) at the Keystone Aquatics Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
