Rio Torch Relay Day 90: Six More Cities In Rio de Janeiro

On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.

On the 90th day of the Olympic torch relay the torch travelled about 140 km south starting out in Cordeiro and ended up in Macaé, which is located on the coast bordering the ocean.

Along with those two cities, the torch travelled through Itaocara, São Fidélis, Campos dos Goytacazes and Conceição de Macabu on the day.

The torch relay only has five more days, as it will conclude on Friday by entering Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro and lighting the Olympic flame to mark the official start to the Games and the official end of the relay. The person who lights the torch is kept as a secret until the actual ceremony, but it will likely be an icon in Brazilian sports.
