Rio Torch Relay Day 56: Nova Andradina, Alvares Machado & Bataguassu

On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.

On the 56th day of the Olympic torch relay the torch explored three cities: Nova Andradina, Alvares Machado and Bataguassu. Nova Andradina and Bataguassa are both located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, and Alvares Machado is located in the state of São Paulo. Nova Andradina has a population of about  43,495 (2007), Bataguassu has a population of about 19,171 (2005), and Alvares Machado has a population of about 24,609 (2004). Nova Andradina and Bataguassu are both located in the south east area of Mato Grosso do Sul, while Alvares Machado is the north west area of São Paulo.
