Registration Opens for the 3rd FINA World Aquatics Convention

Registration is open for the 3rd FINA World Aquatics Convention, taking place from 29 November – 1 December 2014 at The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha (Qatar).

The Convention will precede the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) which also takes place in Doha from 3 – 7 December. The timing and location of the events provide delegates with unique access to over 1000 elite athletes, coaches and team managers. The Convention will also unite leading figures from over 200 National Federations, Organising Committees of FINA’s major championships, cities bidding for or hosting aquatic events, and commercial organisations.

Old FINA Logo“This year’s Convention will once more be an exciting gathering of the Aquatics family,” said Dr. Julio C. Maglione, FINA President. “With the event taking place just days before our World Swimming Championships (25m), the whole of our industry will descend on Doha and we’re looking forward to creating a festival atmosphere for everyone.”

A key objective of the Convention is to provide a platform on which to network, share best practice, encourage engagement, and boost elite performance in all FINA disciplines.

“The image and value of Aquatics worldwide is constantly growing and the FINA World Aquatics Convention is another very important opportunity to show the strength of our disciplines. The joint organisation of the Convention and the World Swimming Championships is an added-value for both events,” said Cornel Marculescu, FINA Executive Director.

“We’re delighted to hold the Convention right before the Championships, and we will continue to grow excitement in the months leading up to both events.”

The bi-annual event will build on the success of its previous edition which took place in Moscow (Russia) and attracted over 850 delegates from 450 organisations, representing 145 countries. It will feature:

· the Aquatics Conference

· an exhibition

· the FINA Extraordinary Congress

· the FINA Swimming Golden Coaches Clinic

· official networking events

· social activities
