2x Olympian Regan Smith stacked up the accolades at US Open last weekend. Smith won the 100 and 200 back while placing 2nd in the 50 back and 100/200 fly in Austin. Reflecting on her November spent in Colorado Springs at altitude training camp with the rest of Bob Bowman’s pro group, the world record holder was honest with the fact that the camp was excruciating. However, she does feel good about the work she put in, and it seems to be showing up already in her more aerobic events.

Holy moly, they did 10 sessions of 7K swims? At altitude? No wonder Casas said he was exhausted! This also helps to explain Marchand’s big PB in the 400 free.

That backstroke pull session she’s talking about also sounds brutal. Yikes, Regan and Hubi, you have my sympathies.

It’s kind of crazy that she’s one of the best 100 butterfly swimmers in the world but you never think of her that way.

She’s also one of the best backstrokers ever.

It’s unfortunate she has to compete against GOATs in her events.

Yeah. That was my reaction too.

This sounds so….oldschool. A ton of 7k sessions for someone who is at or near the sprint- end?

Ok! His Bobness obviously knows best.

Regan Smith is near the sprint-end?

Er….

Is this a different Regan Smith? Not the one who has set records from 50m-200m?

Sorry. I got the wrong one.

It’s alright, just be better next time before commenting. It would be greatly appreciated!

Ok. I’ll try much harder.

So….50m to 200m is NOT “at or near the sprint-end”.

Got it.

(Perhaps one or two of the downvoters can help me out? Show me the error of my ways? Thanks.)
