2018 NCSA JUNIORS – ORLANDO

On Friday morning’ prelims, 15 year olds Phoebe Bacon and Isabelle Stadden went 52s in the women’s 100 back. Both were just off their best times, with Bacon posting a 52.50 (52.36 best time) and Stadden going 52.80 (52.73). Grace Countie came in 3rd this morning, posting a best time of 53.09. Bacon’s best time is already 17th in the all-time 15-16 rankings.

15 year old Ashley Strouse and 13 year old Claire Tuggle posted 4:46s in the 500 free, with Strouse taking the top seed at 4:46.43 and Tuggle taking 2nd with a 4:46.60. The A final tonight should be a phenomenal race to watch, with Strouse and Tuggle poised to drop time, Madison Homovich, whose best time is 4:39, and 15 year old Lola Mull, whose best time is 4:43.

Abigail Arens led a tight pack in the women’s 200 breast, posting a 2:12.03. Heather Maccausland, Kylie Powers, and Ashley McCauley followed right behind her with times of 2:12.17, 2:12.24, and 2:12.62 respectively. McCauley is the only swimmer in the fieldwho has been sub-2:10 before, marking her s the favorite tonight, but the race should be an exciting one.

Spencer Walker led the men’s 100 back field, posting a 48.02 to take the top seed by over half a second. Walker and Jack Dolan (48.62) are set up for a great race tonight, with Dolan’s best time 47.10 coming in just ahead of Walker’s 47.22. Walker tends to take his 100 back out fast, so we’ll see how he and Dolan compare tonight.

William Davis dropped 2 seconds to take the men’s 100 fly prelim, posting a 47.59. He was the only swimmer to go under 48 seconds this morning, and other A finalists David Madej and Zach Brown have faster best times than Davis went this morning.
