Paul Le, Victoria Griffin named MAC Swimmers of the Week

Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Paul Le, Missouri State, Senior

200 IM (1:48.47), 100 back (48.89), 200 Medley Relay – First Leg (22.71, 1:31.18), 400 Free Relay – First Leg (22.11, 22.40, 3:05.82)

The senior led a group of Bears at the Missouri Show-Me Showdown on Friday, Oct. 3, by finishing in first place in both the 200 IM in a time of 1:48.47 and the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.89. Won both events against competitors from the University of Missouri and seven other universities. Raced in four events total, two of which were relays that finished fourth. Swam first leg of both relay teams and helped 400 freestyle relay team gain a lead heading into final legs of the event.


Other Nominees

Ashton Bishop, Evansville, Senior

400 Medley Relay – 3:31.31, 100 Freestyle – 48.03, 400 Freestyle Relay – 3:12.18

Senior Ashton Bishop posted three second place finishes as the Purple Aces swam against Southern Illinois.  He took part in a pair of relays, coming in second both times.  He contributed to a 3:31.31 400 Medley Relay while also taking part in the 400 Freestyle Relay, which finished at 3:12.18.  On his own, Bishop swam a 48.03 in the 100 Freestyle.

Till Pallmann, Southern Illinois, Junior

Pallmann was dominant in his season debut. Against the University of Evansville, Pallman was part of three wins. Individually, Pallmann won the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard Backstroke. He was an integral part of the 400-yard Freestyle relay team that won the event.

Victoria Griffin, Bowling Green, Sophomore

First place finishes in the following:

400 medley relay: new meet record 3:49.72
400 free relay 3:31.56

Coming off of a spectacular freshman campaign that included four MAC Swimmer of the Week awards, sophomore Victoria Griffin swam on six winning relay teams at the Tom Stubbs Relays Friday afternoon against Toledo, Akron, Youngstown State and Findlay. She was a part of four relay teams to set new meet records (3×100 butterfly relay, 400 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay).


Other Nominees

Megan Burns, Buffalo, Freshman

Competing in her first collegiate meet, Megan Burns won two individual events and was part of two relay wins. She won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.13. She also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.40, a full second ahead of second place. She swam the anchor leg of the winning 200 medley relay team. The Bulls finished with at time of 1:47.65 – over four seconds ahead of second place. She was also a part of a dominant 200 freestyle relay race. The Bulls finished with a time of 1:38.99 – nearly six seconds ahead of second place.  Burns also placed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.65.

Lauren Comer, Toledo, Junior

Junior Lauren Comer was a part of five relay events on Friday at the Tom Stubbs Relays in Bowling Green, and her teams never finished lower than fourth in any of the five events.

Comer was a part of Toledo’s only win in the meet, swimming the first leg of the 3×500 freestyle relay which posted a time of 15:40.11, nearly six seconds ahead of the second-place team.

She also swam the final legs in both the 800 and 400 freestyle relays, which finished runner-up.
