Olympic Trials Semifinalist Courtney Otto Out of NCAA Champs; Pitt Grabs First Entry

A second scratch today with the release of an updated NCAA Women’s Championship Psych Sheet: Harvard’s Courtney Otto, who placed 9th in the 200 fly at the Olympic Trials with a gutsy swim, has scratched the meet.

Otto was slated to swim the 200 fly (and score in that race), the 200 IM, and the 400 IM, but she is now out, leaving freestyler Sara Li as the Crimson’s only individual entry in the meet.

This will pull up Kelsey Herbst from Pitt as the new 212th qualifier for the meet on the strength of her 16:20.78 in the 1650 freestyle. Herbst also has a provisional qualifying time in the 500 free where she’ll be seeded 58th in a 4:45.82.

Herbst will be Pitt’s only swimming qualifier for NCAA’s.
